Therapy House

Therapy can help you start the next chapter of your life. Do you wrestle with past trauma that won’t let go? Is there something heavy you’re currently struggling with? Maybe you need someone who will listen without judgment. Someone who will sit with you in the space you’re in.

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”

– Maya Angelou

You’re not alone. Let’s figure this out together.

Hi! I’m Shyne Ladak

Registered psychotherapist, as verified by PsychologyToday

Whether it’s your first time in therapy or you’ve done it before we will start where you feel comfortable. Whether you’re just beginning therapy or continuing on your journey, it is important to me that you find someone you can trust. I offer a place where all of you is welcome and will be met with acceptance. Imagine the relief of having managed to name what is wrong and then to feel supported and understood. We will work together to help you release these patterns so you don’t repeat the same scenarios. Let’s get you to a place where you have found meaning in what you do and you just feel good.

Much of what we experience as adults is rooted in childhood. This is why it is important to come and soothe the wounds or traumas (even those that you think are the most trivial) that occurred during this period to return to a softer and brighter present. I am here to bring clarity, empathy and understanding and help you move forward serenely.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, I offer both in-person sessions at my office in Markham, as well as virtual sessions to accommodate your preferences and needs.

For individual therapy sessions, which last 50 minutes, the fee is $125. For couples seeking to enhance their relationship through a 60-minute session, the fee is $140.

Coverage for psychotherapy varies among insurance providers. I recommend contacting your provider to confirm the specifics of your coverage. This will help you understand how your therapy sessions can be financially managed.

The journey through therapy is unique to each individual and can vary in length. It depends on your personal circumstances, the complexities of the issues you’re facing, your goals, and the therapeutic approach we decide on together. We will continuously tailor our sessions to suit your evolving needs.

To respect the time and schedules of all my clients, I require a 48-hour notice for cancellations. Without such notice, the full fee for the session will be charged. I appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

I accept e-transfer, credit card, and cash. These options are provided to make the payment process as convenient as possible for you.

A stable internet connection is necessary for virtual sessions, which are conducted over secure, PHIPA-compliant video platforms. Ensuring your connection is stable beforehand will help us have an uninterrupted and productive session.

Unfortunately, my office is not wheelchair accessible, as it is located above street level and involves navigating approximately 19 stairs. If this presents a difficulty, please reach out. I am committed to making therapy accessible and can offer sessions via secure video or telephone to accommodate your needs.

Choosing the right therapist is a vital part of your therapeutic journey. Consider factors such as the therapeutic approaches you might resonate with (such as CBT, psychodynamic, or relational therapy), the therapist’s specialties, logistical factors like location and cost, and your comfort level during initial consultations. Feeling understood and comfortable with your therapist is crucial for effective therapy.

Individual sessions are typically 50 minutes long, and couples sessions are 60 minutes. This timing is designed to provide the most benefit within a focused period.

Confidentiality and your privacy are my utmost priorities. I use PHIPA-compliant software systems to ensure all personal information and communication are securely managed and protected.
